The character Sunny has been around for a few years. He first appeared in late 2016 through a series of small drawings by the artist. The drawings usually had an underlying theme – c’mon, get out there and enjoy life a little.
The drawings took on the topic of gender-based violence in 2017, featuring one per day in recognition of the 16 Days Campaign to end gender-based violence.
Sunny wasn’t around much until the start of 2022, when the artist wanted to post a picture a day on his Instagram page for his few but dedicated followers. So far so good, and over 90 days into the year, there has been one drawing per day. Many of the earlier posts from 2022 focus on self-care and the importance of staying connected with loved ones. Since late February, the ongoing war in Ukraine has been the subject of many drawings.
